Hi guys I would like to remind you about my upcoming tournament. It will be held on August 22 -23 at Marchan's White Sands Motel and Marina in Port Isabel.

The money raised goes to help local parishes and charities in The Rio Grande Valley. All information including flyers, registration cards, and sponsor letters can be downloaded from http://www.llmtrifectafishing.com We are still seeking sponsors to help fund the tournament and for any door prize donations. If you would like to help out please PM me. There is still time for recognition on our T-Shirts. We are also looking for items to fill our goodie bags with. If you own a bussiness or know anyone that would be intrested 150 bags are given away and its a great way to spread the word about your bussiness.

This year we are happy to announce that KVMV 96.9 our Valley's Christian radio station will be on hand during registration on Saturday to play music and do live remotes. We are also very excited to announce that Fred Rodriguez of South Texas Sportsman will be promoting our Tournament during his next two shows on August 8th and 15th. His show airs Saturday Mornings at 11:30 AM on FOX in the Rio Grande Valley. Please tune in to check it out! I will also post the commercial so you can view.

If you have any questions please feel free to contatct me at 956-821-1877

Do any of you plan to enter?

Thank you all very much for your support!
Bert Hernandez

Good morning fellow anglers!

I'd like to tell you about a series of tournaments that will be happening soon out of the Lower Laguna Madre. There will be a series of 3 tournaments all together. Each tournament has been on their own the past few years but this year decided to team up to help fundraising efforts. They will all be tied together using a point system.

The first tournament organized by my cousin is in its 3rd year and the money raised goes to a Memorial Scholarship In his Dad's name. This will take place in Arroyo City out of Adolf Thomae Park.

The second tournament is organized by my Uncle and it is in its 5th year. The money raised is also used towards scholarships. This tournament will also take place in Arroyo City out of Adolf Thomae Park.

The 3rd tournament is organized by myself and my wife. We will also be in our 3rd year. We are probably the biggest of all 3 so we have saved it for the end to award all the grand prizes. Because we want to encourage family participation we also have a separate kids division in our tournament and for that reason we have ours in Port Isabel out of White Sands Restaurant and Marina. All the money we raise goes back to our parish and various local charities.

All the money raised from all 3 tournaments stays in the Rio Grande Valley to help Rio Grande families and students.

More information and individual flyers can be downloaded from http://www.llmtrifectafishing.com/ Make sure to also download the brochure that will explain everything and the registration cards will be up pretty soon so keep checking back.

We are also lucky enough to own http://www.primoscabin.com so check it out! THIS IS A SPOILER but it may be part of the grand prize for the TEAM REGISTRATION. How does a 2 day 1 night all expense stay sound to the winning team?

If you have any questions please feel free to call any number listed on the flyers or get a hold of me!

 3   Saltwater Fishing Reports / Rockport 4-21-09  on: Apr 22nd, 2009, 12:13pm

I know it's been a while since I've posted any kind of reports. My appollagies...

Fishing Report 4-15-09

We are still getting cold fronts on a regular basis with some beneficial rains "up north" for the most part. During this time of year, cold fronts set our trout bite back just a little further so long as they keep coming. So with that being said, our trout bite has not been worth a darn the last two weeks. But rest assured, the trout bite will be ON here in the next couple of weeks or so I believe. A few trout have been caught on soft plastics if you're fishing during the time they decide to feed and are willing to get out of the boat and wade fish. With the trout bite being so slow I have still been concentrating on redfish & black drum. I was told last week by a friend of mine, "if it ain't broke don't try and fix it", and that's what I have been doing. Both reds & drum have been eager to bite live or dead bait. Like my last report, it depends on the conditions as to which bay I decide to fish. One bay holds more fish of one kind than the other sort of speak, so my clients have not been getting a lot of mixed boxes here lately. Needless to say, they have not been disapointed in their box of keeper fish to take home either. Limits have been easy on both reds & drum, but the conditions dictate as to which bay system I fish.

For those of you that like to fish with live croaker, the season is just around the corner and I'm looking forward to a change of pace.

Until next time,
Capt. Brent Hopkins
